JOHN DEWEY AND THE EDUCATIONAL PHILOSOPHY

Abstract

This writing is based on my PhD paper called The Educational Philosophy of John Dewey. My statements are (1.) Dewey made a paradigm shift. (2.) There is a rennaisance of the ancient Greek role of the „paidagogos”. (3.) Dewey developed a brand new methodology. I introduce the disciplines as pedagogy, the philosophy of education and the history of philosophy as it is related to the history of education. To understand Dewey’s modernity, I present those thinkers and their theories which made affects on his thoughts. My supposition is that, his success comes from the adaptation of the previous ages’ thoughts and methods in his present’s. The aim of the study is interpreting the knowledge accumulated in the story but not only as knowledge elements, but by using the lessons learned from past processes, we create new ones.
