The Ways of Comprehension
Theoretical and practical issues of the relationship between reading comprehension and language skills
Abstract
This paper examines the possibilities of developing reading comprehension skills, with particular reference to students who are studying Hungarian as a foreign language. They are the ones who will play an active role in the translation of Hungarian literature. The first part is about the cognitive background of reading comprehension and the role of foreign language texts in language learning. The second part deals with methodological opportunities and practical solutions for the development of reading comprehension. Considering and combining the aspects of cognitive textology and communicative language models, this paper presents an effective reading strategy.
